The sculpture "Rainforest" symbolizes my concern about the interdependence between deforestation and its impact on climate change and, consequently, our life on the planet. In this sculpture, I depicted the ongoing destruction of the rainforest as a representation of a significant question and pressing issue before us by using a sculpted ceramic glazed head, symbolizing humanity and hyperrealistic handmade polymer clay flowers. Rainforests, vital for global biodiversity, face habitat loss due to widespread logging and agricultural clearance. This loss threatens Earth's species with extinction within the next 50 years, as recognized by countries like Brazil declaring deforestation a national emergency. The intricate system of nature explored in my art underscores the interconnectedness between humans and the environment, transcending ethnic or cultural boundaries. Climate change-induced destruction directly affects our lives by disrupting ecosystems, diminishing biodiversity, and jeopardizing the delicate balance essential for planetary health. The sculpture serves as a poignant call to action, urging viewers to consider the profound connection between climate change, rainforest destruction, and the overall wellbeing of our shared planet.
